Congratulations to Renata for graduating a semester early this past December (2023)! During her time at TCNJ, Renata participated as a member of both Club Swim and Theta Phi Alpha. She will be earning her Master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling starting Spring 2025. Renata will be taking the spring off to travel Southeast Asia and volunteer on an elephant and wildlife rescue sanctuary. After that, she will spend a year working. Congrats, Renata!!
Abby Oliver

Abby will be graduating this year, after which she’ll be earning her Master’s! In the meantime, she’s a member of Psi Chi, the Outreach Chair for Alpha Phi Omega, and the President of both the Healing Arts Club and Enigma (the game club).
Olivia Ortelli

Olivia is currently a Neuroscience Ph.D. student at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Olivia’s research focuses on the relationship between early life stress and alcohol use disorder with an emphasis on examining sex differences. She serves as a Section Editor for the Wake Forest Journal of Science and Medicine, Co-Chair of the Neuroscience Graduate Student Advisory Committee, and Executive Committee Member of her department’s outreach organization, Brain Awareness Council. Olivia was awarded a spot on her department’s T32 training grant upon joining the program and has been selected as a finalist for a doctoral student small grant through the Research Society on Alcohol (RSA)!

Shirley Wang
Class of 2017, Psychology Major and Statistics Minor

Shirley Wang is currently a Ph.D. student in the Clinical Science program at Harvard University under the mentorship of Dr. Jill Hooley and funded by the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Shirley’s research examines cognitive and affective processes involved in the etiology and maintenance of eating disorders, self-injury, and suicidal behaviors, as well as the overlap and distinction between direct and indirect forms of self-injury. She has an additional strong interest in statistical methods of classification. She has published 42 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 4 book chapters, given >50 conference presentations, and received >$300,000 in research funding to date (including both an NSF GRFP and NIMH F31 award). Emma Young

During her senior year, Emma served as the Lab Manager. Emma graduated with a B.A. in psychology and completed her senior honors thesis on the relationship between avoidant coping and emotional reactivity. Currently, she is a social worker student at Columbia University. Emma hopes to continue working with children affected by mental health challenges in the future.
Kelly Bobchin
